Paragons - Sage
This is mage/priest paragon type. Heirophants and Inquisitors which can only be unlocked after having attained but not achieved Archetype in 2 types of classes from Mage/Elementalist/Bard, and Druid/Priest/Shaman.
There can be only one Master and one Apprentice Sage per realm.
There are 2 Basic Varieties of Sage:
Heirophant and Inquisitor.
Heirophants are Druid/Mage or Shaman/Mage combination and focus on elemental forces. Ultimately taking on the Physical Properties of an Elemental.
This is essentially a Druid/Mage that forgoes learning Non-elemental Spheres in order to focus their transformation ability to become an elemental rather than an animal. They can perform resurrection once per battle if they are assigned to that slot.
They also have some command over the elements as an Elementalist does but in a more physical form rather than conjuring or summoning. In this aspect they can utilize elemental attacks and defense based upon whatever element they have attained mastery over.
They use the same weapons and armor as Druids. A single chosen weapon and cloth armor. They wear Elemental stats on the meter in elemental form and wear the stats of their original race when not in elemental form. Their cloth armor can be enchanted to D2 as a mage is able to.
They use the Elemental or Elementalist HUD series when in elemental Form. They can NOT be banished (as they are not actually denizens of another plane) BUT they CAN be controlled or compelled. They are MORTAL and can die.
They utilize the Sage HUD when not in elemental form. They do not get banish (but they CAN use summon abilities) as Druids do and trade the ability to shift into a Human sized and shaped lesser elemental (instead of an animal)
As with all shapeshifters they can NOT shift between states during combat. The player must be in whichever chosen form prior to the beginning of the battle.
Sages can use any weapon that is allowed to them by their deific force in combat. They do spend the time necessary to train in any weapon which requires more advanced combat techniques as they focus all of the attention on the reshaping of the mind and body in very different ways.
Inquisitor which is essentially an armoured mage that worships a Diety. Inquisitors are a Cleric/Mage combination.
They can wear chainmail or cloth armour. They get 3 weapons, the can use their Dietie's preferred weapon (every diety has a Chosen weapon that signifys them), dagger and staff.
They use the Clerical spell list that corresponds to the Spheres of Influence for their Diety and use the Arcane Schools that correspond with their Specialization Path.
Sage Class Combinations are:
-- Druid/Shaman: Caller
Focus on drawing the forces of the elements unto themselves and thus transforming into a form of Elemental.
-- Shaman/Mage: Hermit
Focus on drawing the forces of the elements unto themselves and thus transforming into a form of Elemental
-- Druid/Mage: Archon
Follows the general religious beliefs of the elemental lords. Yet also uses the abilities of arcana in order to fulfill those responsibilities.
-- Shaman/Cleric: Soothsayer
Combining the abilities of shaman and cleric. Performs death rites with a passion few others can match. Using powerful divinations to seek those answers few can find.
-- Cleric/Mage: Inquisitor
Focus on combing divine and Arcane magics together. They weave the two distinct magic types and so have some ability with both. They can heal like a priest and deal damage like a mage.
-- Cleric/Shaman: Spiritmender
Works with a single entity that they worship, along with their spirits and ancestors to accomplish goals of that entity. Cardinal or Witchdoctor are also terms or titles that would be found in this combination.
-- Druid/Cleric: Scion
Combines the powers of the devotion to a deity from a cleric with the focus and devotion to the elements of the Druid. This allows for them to call forth elements while adding Deific channeling of their cause.
Their Deity dictates where they go with their Art. For example Athena would lead the practitioner toward defense and damage and all the spells granted and researched would be of that ilk while Aphrodite would lead toward healing and mending types.
They do not get the elemental form of their counterpart BUT they can still heal as part of their spell list.
They can wear chainmail armor and use the chosen weapon of their deity
At rank 4.3 They hold the title Keeper
At rank 4.4 They hold the title Oracle
At rank 4.5 They hold the title Sage
